Solar Done Properly

New systems installed right the first time. Existing systems checked, fixed and kept safe, registered and working. Northern Johannesburg.

Either way, it comes down to the same three things: sized for how your household actually uses power, installed by a registered electrician, and signed off with the Certificate of Compliance and SSEG registration in order.

Getting Solar: A New System, Done Properly

No standard packages pushed at you and no pressure to buy the biggest battery on the shelf. A system sized from your bills and how you live, installed properly, and signed off in full.

How It Works

  1. Tell us about your home. Share a recent electricity bill and what you want solar to do: keep the lights on, cut the bill, or both.
  2. Site assessment and design. We visit, look at your roof, distribution board and how you use power, and design a system to fit. You get a written quote with every component named by make and model.
  3. Installation. A vetted registered electrical contractor from our network installs the system. We coordinate the job and stay your point of contact throughout.
  4. Sign-off and handover. The Certificate of Compliance is issued, the SSEG application goes to City Power, and we walk you through the system before we leave.

Three Starting Points

Backup Starter

An inverter and battery that keep the lights, Wi-Fi, TV and fridge on when the power goes.

Hybrid Home

Panels and a battery working together to cut your daytime bill and carry you through outages.

Full Home

A larger array and more storage for bigger households, pools and home offices.

Every system is adjusted to your home after the site assessment, so the final quote is for what you actually need. See what each costs in 2026.

Included With Every Installation

  • A Certificate of Compliance issued by a registered electrical contractor
  • Your SSEG registration application to City Power, handled for you
  • DC isolators, surge protection and labelling, itemised on the quote
  • Monitoring from day one, so early faults are caught while the warranty still covers them
  • A walk-through of your system and how to shut it down safely

Not Sure What Size You Need?

You don't need to know yet. Answer six quick questions in our free sizing guide and get a starting size and budget range in about a minute. We confirm the final size from your electricity bills and how your household uses power at the site assessment. Already have a quote from someone else? Read what a solar quote should contain, or send it to us and we will tell you what we would question.

Already Have Solar? Make Sure It Is Legal, Safe and Registered

If your system went in during the load-shedding rush, you may have no way of knowing whether it is safe, whether your insurer would pay out, or whether it will hold up a property transfer.

What most homeowners do not know is that the responsibility sits with you. The user of an electrical installation, including its solar system, is legally responsible for its safety, safe use and maintenance. In a home you own and live in, that is you. Not the installer who has moved on.

Why It Matters Now

  • Insurers are increasingly asking for a CoC before paying a claim on fire or lightning damage.
  • City Power is enforcing SSEG registration, and registering moves you onto postpaid billing with a higher fixed monthly charge.
  • Conveyancers are picking up unregistered solar during transfers, and it stalls the sale.
  • Electricity keeps getting more expensive, in a way that punishes a system set up for the wrong job.

Where to Start

Solar Health Check

Two hours on site and a written report within three working days: is it safe, is it performing, and what needs attention first. From R1,500.

Full Solar System Audit

A thermal survey, string tests and a report you can hand to an insurer or conveyancer. From R5,000.

Remediation

We scope and manage the repairs. A registered contractor you contract directly does the work and issues the CoC.

Working, But Costing You More Than It Should?

A system specified for load shedding in 2023 is set up for the wrong thing in 2026. Nothing is broken. It is just aimed at surviving an outage rather than at cutting your bill. If your savings are smaller than you expected, that is usually configuration, not equipment. See how we re-tune a system for your tariff.

And if you have outgrown it and need more batteries or panels, we check what is already there first, then quote the upgrade. An upgrade is the right moment to fix whatever the first installer left undone. Adding panels or a battery.

Why CleanVolts? We Know What a Rushed Install Looks Like

Thousands of solar systems went up across Johannesburg during the load-shedding rush of 2022 and 2023. A lot of them were installed fast, by whoever was available, and never registered with the municipality.

We know what that leaves behind: isolators nobody labelled, earthing that was skipped, batteries sized for a sales target rather than a household, and no Certificate of Compliance at the end of it.

That is exactly why a system we put in is done the slow, proper way. And it is why we can tell you, plainly, where the one you already have stands.

Who Does the Work?

The electrical work on every CleanVolts job is done and certified by a registered electrical contractor, and you contract with them directly. We design, quote, coordinate and handle the paperwork, and we stay your point of contact from the first visit to the follow-up.

Before anyone joins our network, we check their registration and category, their wireman's licence, their letter of good standing with the Compensation Fund and their public liability cover, and we speak to their clients.
