Is Your Solar System Safe, and Is It Pulling Its Weight?
Most solar systems in Johannesburg have never been looked at since the day they were switched on. Nobody checked the connections after the first summer. Nobody compared what it produces with what it should. Nobody asked whether the paperwork is in order.
The Solar Health Check fixes that in two hours. We answer three questions about the system you already own: is it safe, is it performing, and what needs attention first?
It is the easiest way to find out where you stand, and the place most of our clients start.
What We Check
- A conversation about the system's history: who installed it, when, what has changed since, and what is worrying you
- The array, from the ground or a ladder, and from the roof where it is safe and necessary
- The inverter, battery, isolators and distribution board, inspected with all covers left on
- Non-intrusive electrical readings on the conductors we can safely reach
- Your inverter and monitoring data, over as much history as the system has kept
- What the system produces compared with what an array of its size and direction should produce
- Your paperwork: the Certificate of Compliance, SSEG registration and whether your insurer knows the system is there
What You Get
A written report within three working days. No more than six pages, with photographs. Every finding is ranked Immediate, Important or Advisory, so you know what to deal with this week and what can wait.
A 20-minute call to walk you through it. Ask anything. We would rather you understood the report than filed it.
What a Health Check Is Not
A Health Check is an inspection with the covers on. It does not include a thermal imaging survey, insulation resistance testing, string-by-string measurements or a roof structural assessment, and we do not dismantle, repair or certify anything.
If the Health Check finds something that needs a closer look, the next step is the Full Solar System Audit. If it finds work that needs doing, the next step is a remediation quote.
Health Check or Full Audit?
Start with a Health Check if you have never had the system looked at, you are not sure anything is wrong, or you want to know where you stand before spending more.
Go straight to a Full Audit if you are selling the house, your insurer has asked for proof, or you already know something is wrong and want the complete picture in a report you can hand to someone else.
What Happens After
Nothing, if you like. There is no obligation to use us for anything the report finds.
If there is work to do, we scope it and quote to manage it. The electrical work itself is done and certified by a registered electrical contractor, and you contract them directly. We handle the coordination, the components at cost and the paperwork.
If the system is healthy, the sensible next step is monitoring, so it stays that way.
Price
A fixed fee, banded by the size of your system. Travel within our area is included. Ask for the figure for your system, or book online and we will confirm it before we arrive.
Before We Arrive
- Please make sure the dogs are secured before we go into the yard or onto the roof
- Clear access to the distribution board, the inverter and the battery
- Find whatever paperwork you have: the CoC, the installer's invoice, any SSEG letter
- If you have a monitoring app, have the login handy
We will send you the name, photograph and vehicle of the person coming, and a message when we are on our way.
