What Happens After You Send It 

  1. We read it. We check you're in our area and look at your bill band and what you want the system to do.
  2. We call or WhatsApp you within one working day. A short conversation about your home and how you use power, then we book a time for the site assessment.
  3. Site assessment. We visit to look at your roof and its direction, your distribution board, where the inverter and battery can go, and how your household uses power through the day. [The site assessment is free. / The site assessment costs R[amount], credited against the installation if you go ahead.]
  4. Your design and written quote. Within [number] working days of the visit. Every component named by make and model, with the installation, the Certificate of Compliance and the SSEG application all listed. Take your time with it.

We don't quote without seeing the house, and we won't push you to decide on the day. 

Have these handy

None of this is needed to send the form. It just makes the first call and the visit quicker. 

  • A recent electricity bill. On prepaid, your last few months of token purchases from the app or the City Power portal will do.
  • What you want running in an outage. The lights, Wi-Fi, fridge and TV, or the whole house including the geyser and pool pump?
  • A photo of your distribution board with the cover closed. Send it on WhatsApp.
  • Any plans for the next few years. A pool, an electric car, someone working from home. It changes the size of the system.

Who Installs Your System 

We design the system, prepare the quote, coordinate the installation and handle the paperwork, and we stay your point of contact from the first call to the follow-up. A registered electrical contractor from our vetted network installs the system and issues the Certificate of Compliance under their own registration, and you contract with them directly for the installation.

FAQ

Is the quote free?

The written quote is free. The site assessment costs R750, and we credit it against the installation if you go ahead. 

Why do you need to visit before you quote?

Because a quote written from a phone call is a guess. Roof direction, shading, the state of your distribution board and where the equipment can safely go all change the design and the price.

I rent. Can I still get solar?

Yes, with the owner's written permission. The installation is fixed to the property, and the owner signs the City Power SSEG application. Tick "I rent" on the form and we'll talk you through it.

How soon can it be installed?

Usually a few weeks from an accepted quote, depending on component availability. Most home installations take a few days on site. 

Do I have to pay anything up front?

Not to get a quote. Once you accept it, components are ordered when the deposit is paid. The full terms are on your quote and on the installation page.
