Who Actually Does the Work
Solar work in South Africa has a boundary in it, and most companies are vague about where it falls. We would rather be clear.
CleanVolts inspects, measures, analyses, reports, coordinates and handles the paperwork. Registered electrical contractors do the electrical work and issue the Certificate of Compliance under their own registration.
That is not a workaround. It is how the Electrical Installation Regulations are written, and it is the advice we took from the Electrical Contractors' Association of South Africa before we started trading.
What That Means for You
You contract the electrical contractor directly for the electrical work. Their name is on the CoC because their registration is behind it.
You contract CleanVolts separately for the audit, the report, the design and specification work, the project coordination and the SSEG paperwork.
Two agreements, two invoices, one job. We manage the whole thing so it does not feel like two.
It also means the person signing off the electrical work has personal, professional accountability for it. That is worth more to you than a single invoice would be.

We work with a small number of registered people we know personally and have watched work. We are not a directory and we do not take a cut of a stranger's job.
What We Do Not Do
We do not open your distribution board.
We do not work live on the DC side.
We do not sign Certificates of Compliance.
Being the independent assessor is the point. We have no incentive to find a problem, because we are not the ones quoting to fix it.
Where This Goes
Tony is working through the qualification route to registered Installation Electrician. Until that is complete, the boundary above holds exactly as written, and we would rather tell you that plainly than let you assume otherwise.
