# CleanVolts Approved: Who We Recommend, and Why
We only recommend people we would let work on our own home. That standard has a name: CleanVolts Approved. It covers the registered electricians who install and sign off your system, and the panel cleaners, finance providers and, in future, EV dealers we point you to.
Solar work in South Africa also has a boundary in it, and most companies are vague about where it falls. We would rather be clear. CleanVolts inspects, measures, analyses, reports, coordinates and handles the paperwork. Registered electrical contractors do the electrical work and issue the Certificate of Compliance under their own registration.
That is not a workaround. It is how the Electrical Installation Regulations are written, and it is the advice we took from the Electrical Contractors' Association of South Africa before we started trading.

## What That Means for You
**You contract the electrical contractor directly** for the electrical work. Their name is on the CoC because their registration is behind it.
**You contract CleanVolts separately** for the audit, the report, the design and specification work, the project coordination and the SSEG paperwork.
**Two agreements, two invoices, one job.** We manage the whole thing so it does not feel like two.
It also means the person signing off the electrical work has personal, professional accountability for it. That is worth more to you than a single invoice would be.
## The CleanVolts Approved Standard
Before anyone gets the CleanVolts Approved mark, we check them against a written standard and keep a copy of everything on file.
### Installers and electricians
- Registered electrical contractor, in the right category, with a registered person who signs the Certificates of Compliance
- A letter of good standing with the Compensation Fund, and public liability cover
- Components with warranties backed by a local supplier, and a written workmanship warranty
- Two client references we have spoken to, and a real job that Tony has seen for himself
### Panel cleaners
- Insurance and a safe method for working at height
- A cleaning method that won't void your panel warranty, with output readings before and after
- Client references we have spoken to
### Finance providers
- Registered with the National Credit Regulator
- The full cost of credit in writing before you sign, with no surprises for settling early
### EV dealers
- An authorised dealer with after-sales service and warranty support in Gauteng
### How the mark is lost
Approval isn't for life. We ask every client how the job went. A lapsed registration, a complaint that isn't put right, or a job that falls short of the standard, and the partner stops getting our referrals, whatever they pay us.
### Who is approved today
We are building this network carefully rather than quickly. As partners complete the checks and sign agreements, we will list them here by name, with their permission. Until then, we name the partner for your job, and tell you why we chose them, before you sign anything. We are not a directory.

## What We Do Not Do
We do not open your distribution board.
We do not work live on the DC side.
We do not sign Certificates of Compliance.
We do not hold stock, or buy or sell components. The contractor quotes the electrical work and the components to you directly, and our fee is shown as its own line. Before you sign, we check the contractor's component prices against what the distributors charge.

## Where This Goes
Tony is working through the qualification route to registered Installation Electrician. Until that is complete, the boundary above holds exactly as written, and we would rather tell you that plainly than let you assume otherwise.
