Your Solar System Isn't Broken. It's Mis-tuned.

If you bought solar in 2022 or 2023, you bought it to keep the lights on. That was the right decision then, and the system was probably configured to do exactly that: keep the battery full, wait for the outage, ride it out.

The outages stopped. The tariffs did not.

A system holding its battery at 100% all day so it is ready for a blackout that is not coming is a system doing very little for your bill. Nothing is faulty. It is simply aimed at the wrong problem.

CleanVolts Solar Tariff Optimisation

Signs Your System Is Aimed at the Wrong Problem

  • Your battery sits full through the middle of the day and you still buy electricity in the evening

  • Your bill fell far less than the salesman promised, and you have never worked out why

  • You are exporting to the grid and getting little or nothing back for it

  • Your geyser, pool pump and washing machine run whenever somebody switches them on, rather than when the sun is up

  • Your fixed monthly charge went up when you registered the system, and nothing changed to compensate for it

What We Actually Do

Pull the history. We take the monitoring data from your inverter — generation, consumption, battery behaviour, hour by hour — rather than guessing from a single day's snapshot.

Read it against your real tariff. Not a generic tariff. The one on your bill, with the blocks and the fixed charge that apply to your connection.

Reconfigure. Charge and discharge scheduling, self-consumption priority, and which loads run when. This is where most of the saving comes from and it costs nothing but the setting.

Tell you what the arithmetic supports. Sometimes the answer is more battery, sometimes more panels, and quite often neither. We will say so.

Show you the before and after. A written report with the numbers, and a follow-up once the new configuration has had a month to prove itself.

What It Costs

R2,500 to R4,500 depending on system complexity and how much monitoring history there is to work with.

If we have not audited the system before, we will usually recommend doing both at once — the audit tells us the system is safe, the re-optimisation makes it pay.

What This Is Not

This is not fault-finding, and it is not a criticism of whoever installed your system. A system specified for load shedding was specified correctly for 2023.

We are not going to tell you that you need to replace anything you do not need to replace.
